New House Series: Downstairs Pt 2

Hey Reader!

Last we checked in on house stuff, I had made it downstairs. I have since finished three coat of skim on all the walls. Since this seemingly endless project is finally nearing its end, I figured I would try a new technique. Why not shake things up when I am nearly done? Don't want to get too comfortable.

I have noticed that when I go to paint the walls, I have difficulty with the edging. This is because I am bad at painting, but also because the trim has a high gloss white paint. I don't usually spend a lot of time worrying about being careful, because the walls aren't painted yet. However, I did notice that because the trim is a high glass white (the only acceptable finish for trim is high gloss, and the only acceptable color is white) the wall paint has difficulty covering all along the edging. This has meant that my one coat guarantee paint is great on the walls, except those small areas. It is much harder to edge than roll, so you can imaging my frustration.

I decided that I would paint the trim before I finished smoothing them this time. I went around and painted all of my trim ahead of time. This means that when I seal the walls, and eventually paint them, there will be layers of sealant/primer over any mistakes or overpainting I did on my trim. In theory, this is going to make downstairs a much easier job. Time will tell.

The best part about doing the walls downstairs is that I have access to a TV. I have been rewatching the original Sabrina the Teenaged Witch tv series as I smooth walls. It is really interesting watching this 90s time capsule. It is especially fun because this show was clearly not meant to be seen on a screen this large and with picture quality this good. Here is a photo of Principal Kraft holding a "gold bar" that clearly has wood grain. Make sure you clock that SUPER modern computer in the background.

I don't really understand some of Sabrina. Here are a few issues that jump out at me:

If Sabrina ever sees her mom the woman turns into a ball of wax. This is originally stated to only happen until she turns 18, then until she gets her witches license. Eventually it is just a "forever" thing. Logic of that aside, Sabrina consistently dates mortal men - except a brief stint with Turk from Scrubs who is a witch as well. She essentially is saying that she will either divorce her mortal husband so she can raise her child, or she will have to send her child away to live with relatives - lest her husband become a candle.

What is the leadership of the witch's council? Sometimes it is Penn of Penn and Teller fame. Later it appears to be some kind of tribunal - occasionally led by RuPaul. In the span of 4 seasons, the council appears to have had at least 4 different leaders. That is a really quick turnaround considering there is only one instance of voting in the other realm that we see. Also, in that episode there is literally no discussion of candidates, only new laws.

Why does Sabrina have a Quizmaster, but Dreama gets assigned a witch to train her? Where is Dreama disappear to when Sabrina goes to college? While we are on the subject, Sabrina's dorm room makes Buffy's look realistic! Three students live there with their RA. That ratio seems about right.

I feel like I have lost my point. Lets get back to the walls. You can see how easily distracted I can become as I work on this place!

Anyway,
Keep making cool stuff.

Until next time,
JoshPrime
