Gift wrapping and Ciphers!

Image
Hey Reader, I know you are sitting there in the first week of February reading this and wondering why I am posting about Christmas gifts. It is because I am great at blogging and search term optimization. Just kidding, in reality it is because it is my blog and I do what I want. So there. This Christmas, I wanted to get really fancy with the gift giving. Last year, due to obsessions with the television show Gravity Falls , I learned a lot about ciphers and coded messages. I wrapped gifts and covered them completely in complicated ciphers that took weeks to solve. This year, I wanted to take a slightly different tactic and make the gift even more interactive. I created this cipher wheel and you can too! Print it out and make your own! Here is how to make it: 1. Print out a copy and place your paper on a piece of cardstock. Then cut out the circle, mark the center of your cardstock with an awl (or a push pin like I did). 2. Cut the out outer ring and use the smaller circle you...

3d Pen!

Hey reader, I know its been a minute while since we have had a non-house related post. Fear not, there will be more house drama next week, but this post is about something totally different. On Christmas morning I opened a present that contained a 3d Pen! Cue Link opening a treasure chest music . Special thanks to the stuffed animal that was credited with getting me this amazing toy . Link would never be able to work this thing. Especially not Nintendo 64 Link, as he only had two fingers: his thumb and a mass that would typically be the other four. There are a lot of really cool people out there on YouTube making neat stuff with 3D pens. My current favorite artist online is Jazza from Draw With Jazza . He made a sweet dragon his first time . I discovered him because of his trending video using mermaid sequins to make art. Slight tangent: Jazza is amazing and has some great content out there on YouTube. I especially enjoy his style swap challenges , where he draws cartoon charac...

Gift Wrapping

Image
Hey Reader, I had a friend who was celebrating a birthday and I decided to do a gift. I am not the biggest gift-giver in the world, so when I get the itch to buy things its kind of an event for me. I like to do a lot of small things rather than one big gift. Maybe it is my crippling social anxiety telling me that if I pick a lot of things I am more likely to be successful. I know that its the thought that counts - but anxiety doesn't know that. Anxiety is a needy jerk who doesn't listen to rational thinking. Anyway, during January and February I was doing a cleanse and drinking a lot of fiber shakes. That cleanse is now over. Well, not really. I am writing this in the past while the cleanse is still happening. Assuming I live to March 19th, this post will be right in the middle of my first month with food again. Food sounds amazing. I am hoping that I can start writing a bunch of posts about delicious food I cook. I am just worried that once I can eat again my desire to cook...

Happy Birthday JustLeah!

Image
Hey readers! So much stuff! My podcast cohost, JustLeah, had a Stevie Nicks themed birthday. I wanted to make her something fun and on theme. Someone else nabbed making a top hat, so I needed to come up with something else. I decided I would try to make a little shadow box that she could hang on her wall (or throw out if she felt so inclined). I don't consider myself an expert on anything music, but a quick googling resulted in me discovering the quote "Don't be a lady, be a legend." I checked and double checked to be sure that this was accurately attributed to avoid serious egg on my face. Then I found a great picture of Stevie Nicks flipping off the camera that I thought fit the theme and quote perfectly. I chose a fun font and printed the picture and quote. Things I needed: Shadowbox Crescent moon charms Necklace chains Floral feathers Silk flower Fabric Foam board Hot Glue Tacky Glue Card stock Be a legend. First things first, I need the...
