Miss Magenta Part 2
Hey Reader,
As promised, I said I would regale you with my amazing makeup skills. Amazing is an interesting word. It doesn't actually apply that something is great, just that it is something that you can be affected by. You will be affected by my makeup skills. However, they are most certainly not great.
My first step was to cover my face in foundation, rendering me all one color. I want my face to be a blank canvas. Blank canvases don't typically have noses or blemishes. We can cover at least one of those things.
I am pretty clueless, I just bought something called foundation that looked like a color I wanted, not really caring if it in any way matched my skin tone. As you can see, it isn't a perfect match. Then again, this isn't a perfect drag experience so I guess it fits.
Contouring is when you re-add all the color variations on your skin that you just worked so hard to get rid of. Except this time, you try to make your shadows more extreme in some areas, and less extreme in others. I don't consider myself a contouring expert by any means. I considered linking to a few videos, but there are literally thousands out there. I am confident you can find some.
I darkened the area right below my cheek bones and around my face. The idea is to make my cheek bones more pronounced. It definitely seems pretty pronounces now. I also darkened the sides of my nose, which creates a thinner look when done right. When done haphazardly by an amateur it looks like this.
Notice that I am not messing with my eyebrows. I am wearing a wig with bangs for a reason. I am not tying to mess with all that.
Next came eyeshadow. I still don't really understand eyeshadow at all. First of all, its bright and not shadowey in any way. Shadow implies something else entirely. I have never had a hot pink shadow, until now.I also glued on eyelashes. Warning, eyelashes go upward. Don't glue them on upside down or you will blink and blind yourself. Spoken from experience.
I added some lip stain. I didn't go bigger than my lips, though maybe next time.
With a wig on, I am almost looking like I have a clue about what I am doing. Check out how pronounced my cheekbones are. Very. Very pronounced.
I would call this a success. If you wouldn't, then you should come help me do makeup next time. Now I am off to solve - or possible commit - a murder!
I suppose a beauty guru would have told you a lot more of the steps, plugged the makeup brand, and given you an inspirational quote. I can do maybe one of those things.
"Keep making cool stuff,"
Until next time,
JoshPrime
