New House Series: Hallway Pt 2 - Big Ladder!
Hey Reader,
I don't have a whole lot to talk about this week, mostly my time has been spent brainstorming ways to get my hallway and stairwell complete. You might recall, that I am not tall enough to reach the ceiling in the stairwell. That is rather fortunate because it would make living here quite challenging. However, it is a problem right now. I bought a super big ladder to help me reach.
The ladder can extend to twice its normal length, and open up to be an A ladder or just a stand up ladder. There is a shrinkage joke there somewhere but I am not going to try to find it.
Anyway, it is great for reaching the walls. If by "great" you mean "horrifying." Fear of heights aside, I could finally get up there. Of course, I can't put the ladder against the window, so there is some minor stretching required.
My wall problem is solved. Though the ceiling is pretty much impossible to get to. I am thinking about a few different options.
I might try to roll the plaster on the ceiling and then sand it from the ground. I am worried that is going to be a much bigger job than it sounds - and it already sounds pretty daunting.
I could also try building a small platform that can conform to the stairs and allow the ladder to sit level in some less convenient spots. That could at least get me to the ceiling - or parts of it. Either way, it has been stumping me and making it challenging to write up new content for the blog.
I have to puzzle this out some more, so we will see how all of this shakes out. Maybe it will just need a LOT of coats of the magic primer. Even if I use three buckets, its still cheaper than hiring someone.
Brainstorming continues.
Keep making cool stuff
Until next time,
