Foodstirs Out Of This World Donut Kit!
Hey reader!
I know I promised you cotton candy making, but this post is time sensitive!
This is kind of a unique post today. I am writing about my experience making the Foodstirs Out Of This World Donut Kit. What is Foodstirs? Foodstirs is the new box dessert delivery company owned by Sarah Michelle Gellar of Buffy fame. All of the ingredients in a Foodstirs box are ethically sources, non GMO, and organic. The recipes are also designed to be fun and easy to make with kids.
JustLeah and I host the weekly Buffy podcast, J and L Watches, and when we saw that this product existed we thought it would be super awesome to give it a try. We are pretty much children ourselves, so this could be a great project!
We were not paid or compensated in any way for this review, but if Sarah Michelle Gellar wants to send us more donuts, we are very cool with that.
Anyway, even the packaging is adorable! It didn't come with quite everything we needed to make donuts. We needed to provide our own milk, eggs, yogurt and butter. Since I live like a man in his early 30s who rarely if ever cooks at home, we did need to run out and get those things. You are an adult with time enough to read a craft blog, you probably already have those things at home. It did have everything else though, including the cute little donut molds.
Everything came pre-measured and ready to go. The instructions were perfect for kids, there were only 6 steps in making our donuts! There were even cute little symbols to indicate the steps that required adult supervision - namely the oven related steps. Despite no adults being in my apartment at the time, Leah and I decided to press on.
While Leah worked on the batter and carefully placed it into the mold, I worked on the galaxy icing! The most fun part was the dipping of the donuts in the icing to achieve the galaxy look. I made the three icing colors and started the process of creating our swirl. There was enough batter to fill the mold twice. That is probably a good thing, it gave us plenty of time to refresh our icing supplies.
I could see the dipping part being slightly messy for small hands, so I would put down wax paper or something to catch loose icing.
When all was said and done, we were left with some really amazing donuts that truly were out of this world! They have lots of other options and even a subscription service. Give them a shot and bake sweet memories!
Keep making cool stuff!
Until next time,
JoshPrime
