Drag Dress Part Last

Image
Hey reader! Happy 30th post! Where we last left our story, I had one week to create a drag outfit for work. I have one of the best jobs. Anyway, I had created my hip pads and now was the time to make the dress itself. I found this awesome tutorial from OnlineKyne. It is a quick and easy tutorial on how to make a mermaid dress. The only problem that I had, was that Kyne was working off of an existing bodysuit pattern he had. I don't have any such bodysuit pattern, so I would need to make one. I had read online about a thing called DTF . Before you clutch your pearls and are totally scandalized, DTF stands for Duct Tape Form. It is a pretty simple process that gives you a perfect dressform to work off of for your body - or in my case the new body I made out of couch cushions in my last post. If you are not sure what DTF means outside of this context, well then you haven't spent a lot of time on dating sites and you should consider yourself lucky. Making a duct tape form...

Drag Hip Pads

Hey reader! Let's get right on into it. You have seen the title of this post, you know what is coming. I was invited to participate in a drag show! Now, I am not a drag queen - I can't make that mouth click noise and I certainly can't death drop . If I ever wind up in that position, please just plant flowers on me and move on. Who needs both legs anyways? That being said, if you give me a challenging craft project and I am in it 100%. I decided to make my own dress and see what kind of sickening (am I dragging right?) look I could come up with. I decided I would try my hand at a mermaid dress. I found a few tutorials that I will get into later and so I figured thought I could handle it. When I told some folks that this was my plan, they told me they were mad I didn't have a dramatic reveal. I'll save that for a future look, lets just see if I can make one dress this time - forget about making two. I don't exactly have the most fishy (yea I have seen a few...

The Cleanse is Over - Lets Cook Something Delicious!

Image
Hey Reader, I was doing a totally-medically-approved-not-at-all-made-up cleanse for two months and when it was over I wanted nothing more than to put nothing carbs and gravy into my body. I had no food but fiber shakes and sandwiches. I found myself deep in the Pinterest vortex looking at recipes - fantasizing about when I could eat again. I found myself drawn to two major recipes. The first is a chicken parm crescent bread and the other was the return of the cheese and garlic crack bread , I had made that bread for Thanksgiving last year - but spent the whole blog post talking about the cheese ball. Since I skipped it last time, lets start with the crack bread (features no actual crack). It is pretty simple actually, you take a loaf of hard bread - why is that so hard to find here in California... are your mouth's sensitive to crunchy things? - and stuff it full of deliciousness. I didn't use Parmesan like the recipe called for and instead used mozzarella. I really lik...

Making Sprocket - Part 3

Image
Here we go reader! The finishing touches of Sprocket! I really like the look of this little guy. The fun fur is great, but every time he moves he winds up with fur in his mouth. It hides his face and makes it less effective. With Grizwald, I gave him a serious haircut on this face to make it less noticeable, but he still winds up with fur in his mouth. I had seen Adam great hair tutorial and wondered if it would work on a whole body. He uses glue like a hair gel on the puppet to hold the hair in place. I was extremely nervous coming at my puppet creation with glue after I spent hours getting him all ready. Adam insists that if it messes up you can just thin it with more water, but I was still nervous. I definitely felt a little strange squirting glue on my hands and rubbing it on fur. It was like all my life I had been given the message never to ever do that. Next Adam will be telling me to play with matches or leave the stove on. I also tried to do what he does in the tutoria...
