Paw Print Soap!

Image
Hey Reader, This is the last of my bath projects for a while. I really need to get back to the walls eventually! I wanted to make some hand soaps for my powder room, and why not have them be puppy prints! You know I have been obsessed with my new scents from P&J . Every time I talk to them I imagine Peter and Janet (I don't know if that is right, but go with me) having a child named Brad and changing their name to PB and J. I have my own fun. Anyway, I did one minor bit of experimenting on this one. See, I only had a small amount of the opaque soap mix left from my orange creamsicle soap. It was definitely not enough for a whole batch of puppy print soap. However, I did have one bar of that soap left. I wondered if I could harvest it and use it again. I can't smell the orange anymore. It probably isn't an ideal situation, but it worked for this. I was again reminded to microwave your soap in 10 second increments. I definitely boiled over and it is quite diffi...

Cotton Candy Bath Bombs!

Image
Hey reader, You know how I love a bath bomb. Well this week I am making cotton candy scented bath bombs and finally using a baking tray I bought nearly a year ago. It is a glorious day. I finally think I have found a bath bomb recipe that I enjoy. I tried using all different kinds of oils and it just made the bath too oily to be enjoyable. However, when I finally discovered witch hazel that changed everything. I had done a plain white test batch a bit ago and am ready to do some colorful bath bombs again! You know all about my cotton candy oil from P&J. A little bit goes a long way, and I went a very very long way with these bath bombs. I had found this super cute silicone mold of paw prints and I knew I wanted to make bath bombs or soap out of it (Spoiler, I am definitely making both). The problem I have found with silicone molds for bath bombs is two fold. First, you don't have a nice finished edge like you do with hard circular molds. These molds have undersides. ...

Sea Salt Exfoliating Soap

Hey reader, I am so excited to bring you content that is unrelated to house stuff yet again this week! I bought some awesome new scents that will make for some great soap. Check out my new P&J oil in Cotton Candy and Bubble Gum . They are really reasonably priced, and I have already used the soap I am writing about here and can confirm I didn't break out into horrific rashes. Woo. I am not the most sensitive person when it comes to shower and bath products. I suppose I am not the most sensitive person in any context. Though that isn't necessarily a statement of my almost pathological lack of emotions, it is more just a matter of fact. There are certainly more sensitive people than me. Point is, I like to try out a soap first and see if I react before letting others try it. However, I make a poor test subject since very little causes a reaction in me. Since this is unlikely to be the last candy scented bath product I make, you can rest assured there will be other te...

Gift wrapping and Ciphers!

Image
Hey Reader, I know you are sitting there in the first week of February reading this and wondering why I am posting about Christmas gifts. It is because I am great at blogging and search term optimization. Just kidding, in reality it is because it is my blog and I do what I want. So there. This Christmas, I wanted to get really fancy with the gift giving. Last year, due to obsessions with the television show Gravity Falls , I learned a lot about ciphers and coded messages. I wrapped gifts and covered them completely in complicated ciphers that took weeks to solve. This year, I wanted to take a slightly different tactic and make the gift even more interactive. I created this cipher wheel and you can too! Print it out and make your own! Here is how to make it: 1. Print out a copy and place your paper on a piece of cardstock. Then cut out the circle, mark the center of your cardstock with an awl (or a push pin like I did). 2. Cut the out outer ring and use the smaller circle you...
