Thanksgiving foods!

Image
Hey readers, My cheese ball game is on point! Assuming I know how to schedule posts, this should be coming out the week after Thanksgiving! If not, well then there sure is egg on my face. Anyway, this year I was invited to participate in a pot luck style Thanksgiving celebration. Of course, I am no chef. I once failed a boiling water. I was waiting for it to look like a witches brew from Hocus Pocus and inadvertently boiled an entire pot of water away. After 20 minutes or so I should have figured that I didn't know what boiling water looked like. Wow, when I say it like that it sure makes me feel embarrassed. To redeem myself and impress my friends with my culinary prowess, I took to Pinterest to see what I could find that would be cool looking and within my limited cooking skillset. I found an awesome cheese ball recipe and technique from The Country Cook . The ball seemed to have both criteria I was looking for: uncomplicated and interesting to look at. Check out the reci...

Happy Birthday JustLeah!

Image
Hey readers! So much stuff! My podcast cohost, JustLeah, had a Stevie Nicks themed birthday. I wanted to make her something fun and on theme. Someone else nabbed making a top hat, so I needed to come up with something else. I decided I would try to make a little shadow box that she could hang on her wall (or throw out if she felt so inclined). I don't consider myself an expert on anything music, but a quick googling resulted in me discovering the quote "Don't be a lady, be a legend." I checked and double checked to be sure that this was accurately attributed to avoid serious egg on my face. Then I found a great picture of Stevie Nicks flipping off the camera that I thought fit the theme and quote perfectly. I chose a fun font and printed the picture and quote. Things I needed: Shadowbox Crescent moon charms Necklace chains Floral feathers Silk flower Fabric Foam board Hot Glue Tacky Glue Card stock Be a legend. First things first, I need the...

Learning how to bind books

Image
Hey readers, I am going to cut right to the chase. I want to make a Book Of Shadows from Charmed. When I was going to school, my parents bought me a triquetra (the symbol on Charmed) as a sign that I would always be with them even when away at school. Yes, I have always been this big of a nerd. I got to school and with Charmed being quite popular, I fended off accusations of being a witch for a few years. It was my own personal Salem. The death count was about as high. I want to make the book all by hand, including the leather working. I just think it would be a super cool thing to have - and a super cool set of skills for that zombie apocalypse that is coming any day now. Actually, book binding might not help, but a book full of magic spells could really make that life easier. What was I talking about? Oh right, I really love leather bound books and have always wanted to make one of my very own. I found this awesome youtuber, John The Verbose , and have really wanted to try ...

My First Post! - A Brief History of My Making

Image
Hey readers! My name is JoshPrime and I like trying new things - or more specifically - making new things. This blog is where I will painstakingly record my inspiration and process as I make (hopefully) cool stuff. My facebook albums - Josh makes [insert random thing here] now - just aren't cutting it anymore. I want to keep better track of what I want to do differently so that I can keep getting better. I am a big advocate of making things yourself. Not only will it help when the zombie apocalypse comes, but it keeps you thinking creatively and lets you tinker with things until they are just how you want them. Plus, its super fun. (Puppets are a vital part of survival in the zombie apocalypse. Do you see any puppets in The Walking Dead? No, and people die all the time on that show.) My first puppet: Chloe It all started with the puppets. Puppets aren't just for teaching the ABCs on Sesame Street, or for proselytizing to children about the bible. If you don't know...
